Last Friday, hubby and I drove to our local supermarket, selected two kinds of cheese from the under-five-dollar basket in the specialty section and picked out a bottle of wine for our at-home-date night.
On my ride home, I fantasized about the most perfect candelabra for the occasion and began strolling online.
As hubby pulled into the driveway, I resigned to shop my home. I took ten mason jars from the cabinet and placed white taper candles in each.
With a silent excitement already brewing in my body, I splayed the candles around our room.
Then…
I connected my playlist to bluetooth, turned the volume up, and
As Come Close by Common featuring Mary J. Blige
pumped through the speaker,
I slipped into something short and silky.
The ambience of candlelight lulled us to sit
The essence of wine invited us to sip
And the music enticed us to sway our heads.
When the intro to Come Over by Estelle and Sean Paul started,
nostalgia moved me from my bed to my feet and
Slow and seductive movements ensued.
Hubby watched
Then…
he joined my gyrating hips on the dancefloor of our bedroom
Our bodies aligned, as does, our wine-infused lips.
The song ends and we laugh like lovers who discovered Pleasure’s secret
Time felt slow and sweet — so I raised my glass.
“Cheers to slow living,”
As though he was tasting the words themselves –
letting the flavors of slow and living frolic on his palate
he smiled and asked, “Slow Living, Ah?”
I nodded my head yes —
Let us take it slow tonight…
And tomorrow and the day after.
Tell your lover to Come Over, Come Close, and Take It Slow.
Enjoy
