I don’t mean to sound like the Me and Mrs Jones song

But me and my writer-friend

Have this thing going on.

We have been meeting at the same cafe

on Friday

around 10am

to discuss our writing.

We talk about our

projects

pains

pleasures

and our passion for writing.

We talk about the

process

the progress

we’ve made over the course of the week

our plans

for the upcoming week

and

ways to protect our time to write.

When I don’t feel like writing

I think about the excuse I would give her on our date

Then,

I throw the excuse out the window

Sit my ass on the chair

Open my computer

And click one letter at a time!!

Our writing meeting helps me stay focused

But it’s also our whoosah-writing time.

It’s pausing for a moment

lifting our heads up out of the weeds of words

breathing a little

recharging our minds

organizing our thoughts

giving each other space to talk ourselves out of the maze in our brains

and giving account of how we’ve used our time to reach our weekly writing goals.

Making my living as an author is my grand goal

and

each woosah-writing meeting

pushes me one step closer to accomplishing this.

I have smaller goals:

“Remember to drink your water, Sis.”

My sister texts me these very words at least once a week. This is because I shared with her that I wanted to drink at least seventy ounces of water each day!!

“We said three days a week,” hubby gently reminds me when I want to skip the gym.

We all need a woosah-friend!

Get yourself an artist-friend — talk brushes, medium, paints.

Get a dance partner — try Haitian Kompa- it’s quite a sensual and romantic dance.

Oh hell, do the funky chicken.

Get a gym buddy — cheer each other on as you lift weights, ride the bike, and tone that bod of yours.

Whether you have grand or small goals,

We need each other!

Woosah, friends.

I LOVE CONNECTING WITH YOU

Do you have a woosah-friend? What do you meet to mull over?

ON WRITING

I’m revising my manuscript. Editing is my favorite part of the writing process. It’s like calligraphy—now I just have to go in and add the flourishes:-)

 WHAT I’M READING

I’m reading LUST by Victoria Christopher Murray. I really want to see the movie on Lifetime, when I’m done. What are you reading?

Have you read any of her books or seen the movies?

POEM OF THE WEEK

A friend sent me the sweetest text this week and shared this piece, I LOVE YOUR SHOES with me. I just had to share.

I LOVE YOUR SHOES

Thanks again for sharing the poems that are near and dear to your hearts. Keep sending me your favorite poems and I will record them in the upcoming weeks.

THANK YOU

Thank you for welcoming me into your inbox. It is a pleasure sharing with you and hearing from you about ways my writing has inspired or enriched your lives.

As always, I’m super thankful for all your support—encouraging comments, expressions of gratitude, and financial contributions.
