My Easter Lilies are blooming—
TWO weeks after Easter.
They are “late” but “on time”
Each one renouncing the calendar
using their own internal time-recorder
to open their white lips and
slowly reveal its inside.
Easter Lilies are beautiful,
But they stink
And here, as in life, lies the challenge:
finding the balance—
The beauty in grit.
Their stench and their beauty won’t last.
In a matter of days,
the white petals
with their youthful lips
will brown around the edges
The stalk,
with their vibrant green leaves,
will bend like an old woman who’ve grown tired
Flowers and leaves will fall onto the soil
like dress over hips onto the floor.
But come spring —
tiny green leaves will shoot out of the brown earth
and the cycle of blooming in season begins… again.
There is beauty in the Grit, my friends.

This is so human nature. We are beautiful and stink at the same time.

They were so beautiful, I was shocked when I realized where the scent was coming from.
