When we lived in California,
we spent most of our days outdoors.
McKinley Park Rose Garden, in Sacramento,
was one of our favorite places to visit.
We brought blankets, a basket full of snacks and lunch, and the intent to spend the entire day.
The kids visited the duck pond, played with strangers and climbed trees –
hubby and I watched.
When they grew tired,
they rested their weary and sweaty bodies beside us.
Markolee always found a way to squeeze himself in the middle.
Sometimes, little noses greet the roses
and lovers lose themselves in the tenderness of each other’s embrace.
Sometimes, we watched a wedding procession from the sidelines and cheered with the family when it was time to kiss the bride.
Some of you might feel stuck right now, but these are the moments to create memories.
Life is sweet.
The outdoors is there for us to enjoy.
Take this time to listen and engage with each other.
Where is your favorite place to be?
